An error message appears when I install.
If you are using a computer on a network, you must be logged on as Administrator to install the CD. You must run the CD under the Administrator log-on once, and then you can use it under your own log-on name.

Do I need to have the CD in the CD drive for the programme to work? If so, which one?
The answer depends on what you want the CD to do and which installation you have used. If you have performed a minimal install, you must keep CD 1 in the CD drive at all times while using the program. If you want to hear the headword pronunciations you must
a.) have installed using the ‘Full’ installation. This means that all the headword pronunciations have been copied onto your computer. You will no longer need either disc.
b.) have installed using the ‘Recommended’ installation. All headword pronunciations have been copied onto your computer. If you want to also hear sentences examples pronounced in ‘recommended’ installation, you must have CD 2 in the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
c.) If you have installed using the 'Medium' or 'Minimal' installation, you will need to keep CD 1 in the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
If you want to hear the example sentences you must either
a.) have installed using the 'Full' installation. This means that all the pronunciations of the examples have been copied onto your computer.
b.) have installed using the 'Recommended' installation and have CD 2 in the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
If you have installed using a 'Minimal' or 'Medium' installation, you will not be able to hear the example sentences. If you want to hear pronunciations of the example sentences you must reinstall using 'Recommended' or 'Full' installation. Be sure to Uninstall the dictionary first.

I get the following message when I try to run the CD ' No disc inserted. Please insert the original disc of Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English 2005'
This message appears the first time you run the CD if you do not have the disc in the drive. You must insert the disc in order to demonstrate to the program that you have an authentic copy of the CD-Rom.

I'm running OS 10.2.8, is something wrong with my phonetic font?
Users who are running Mac OS 10.2.8 may experience a problem with the stress markers in compound headwords causing part of the word to overlap with the grammatical information in the entry. Unfortunately, there is no solution to this problem. We offer our apologies.
This problem does not occur if you upgrade to OS 10.3.

Do I need to have the CD in the CD drive for the program to work?
If you want to hear the headword pronunciations, you do not need either disk in the drive. Mac and Linux users only have one choice of installation-the 'Recommended' installation. This means that all headword pronunciations have been copied to your computer and can play without CD 1 or 2 in the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
If you want to hear the pronunciations of the example sentences you must have CD 2 in the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
